Dej in Real Life…

Dear Readers & Friends,

Wow, it’s certainly been a while since I’ve been on here. I must admit that I miss you guys. A lot has been going on in my life beyond the browser that I haven’t had the time to sit and share with you all. I’ve been going through some changes. Changes that have made me think at one point should I still be writing, but then I had to ask myself, “who are you when you’re not writing Deja?” Truthfully, I did not have an answer to that question. I’ve been burnt out. I’m a full time writing teacher, I’m in grad school for the third time (my job required it), and I’ve been editing the hell out of my second book. Some days I don’t know how I do it. I’m drinking more coffee then ever and life always seems to be busy.

On the flip-side, it’s the most fulfilled I’ve felt in a long time. My weekdays are filled with building relationships with teens, teaching them and praying they fall in love with writing as I have. My weeknights are filled with night classes, learning new teaching tools and techniques, making friends in my field, and unlimited glasses of red wine.

I’ve laid down my gypsy hat and found a firm foundation that I can happily stand upon. My weekends have become filled with scheduled brunch dates, catching up on sleep and stocking up on books to fill my library. It’s a beautiful balance.

Originally when I started this blog it was because I knew that the things I found myself experiencing on my journey, someone else would find themselves facing. It was literally a first hand guide for a girl in search of herself. Not to create the assumption that I’ve found myself because believe me, I haven’t and everyday there is a new discovery made over here. So I wanted to shift the focus on here. I still want to share the inspirational stories of others, but I want this site to be strictly personal and authentic accounts of my life beyond the browser.

Dej in real life. I want to thank you all for continuing to follow this journey.
